Works taking place now

Ten days after receiving our first notification of the access road being built at 41 Eleanor Street, those residents who had contacted Maribyrnong Council and supplied their email addresses received a works schedule.

This work schedule has work on the new roadway commencing 2 September and being completed by 1 November.

Despite us following the correct process in terms of meeting with Council and submitting the appropriate written objections, work is still taking place on the roadway.

This is despite:

*  The Southampton Street car park and access road via Eleanor Street does not appear in Council's list of current projects (above).

*  The Southampton Street car park and access road via Eleanor Street does not appear in Council's 2013-2017 plan.

*  There are no formal architectural or construction plans available for the Southampton Street car park or access road as we have been advised these have not been completed...yet works have still commenced.

At our meeting with Council tomorrow, we will be calling for an immediate halt to these works until appropriate and meaningful consultation with the street has taken place.
